Just got back from a picnic thrown by the Pharmacy Dept. 'Twas quite lovely...a farewell party for the previous resident and a welcome party for me and my fellow resident, Steve, from Purdue. Everyone is incredibly nice, and I think I did a good job of being sufficiently cheerful and a bit more talkative than normal! The one beer I had helped a lot...I should have had one as soon as I got there instead of near the end. *G*

After 2 days of work, both of which were spent trying to become oriented as quickly as possible, I think I've decided that I like it there more than I thought I would. I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that I'm going to have to work harder at this and put more effort into it than anything I've ever done before, but I think I'll gain so much that it's well worth it. I think it's the atmosphere of increased freedom, personal responsibility, and the respect that comes from being treated not like a student, but as a professional. I'm expected to pull my own weight, and then some, but I have total freedom to find a comfortable way to do it as I choose. No one watches me when I come in, I'm salaried so I don't have to clock in, and I can leave when I'm comfortable that I've gotten a good deal of work done. Now, this doesn't mean that I'm planning on making it a habit to slip in late and leave early, but I was about 5 minutes late this morning (overslept, due to sleep deprivation from reading HP too late at night *g*) and no one cared.

So, yay for Kora...I think I'm gonna survive this!

Greetings mellon nin! I'm glad that you're liking the new work-place. I was wondering how it was going so far.

Is Eowyn doing okay? Niles used to have the same troubles when he was a kitten. The vet put him on antibiotics a lot and then he seemed to grow out of it.

I miss you! If I don't catch you online soon, I'm going to call you. I need your address to send your apartment-warming gift. Plus, I'm hoping to take a roadtrip over-yonder to screen some pirate movie I've heard about. Later!
