Ok, everyone...it's answer time for my lyrics quiz! I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who tried their hand at guessing. It's the best reply response I've gotten to a post in a very long time...thanks all!

#1-"Oh I am what I am. I do what I want. But I can't hide."
Dido - 'Here With Me'

#2-"I wonder what it's like to be a superhero? I wonder where I'd go if I could fly around downtown?"
Matchbox 20 - 'Real World'

#3-"Some boys take a beautiful girl and hide her away from the rest of the world. I want to be the one to walk in the sun!"
Cyndi Lauper - 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'

#4-"But I know the reason why you keep me silenced, though you don't fool me. The hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows. It's no stranger to you and me."
Phil Collins - 'In the Air Tonight'

#5-"Mongolia, Laos, and Tibet, Indonesia, the Phillipine Islands, Taiwan. Sri Lanka, New Guinea, Sumatra, New Zealand, then Borneo and Vietnam."
Yakko Warner (Animaniacs) - 'Nations of the World'
*This is a fun song...congrats to those who got this right! I had a hard time picking what line I liked best since all of them are fun, so I decided to give kudos to New Zealand, for obvious reasons *G*

#6-"I'm living in the forest of a dream. I know this night is not as it would seem. I must believe in something so I'll make myself believe that this night will never go."
Laura Brannigan - 'Self Control' *Yet another 80's song that I love!*

#7-"The one you warned me all about...the one you said I could do without. We're in an awful mess and I don't mean 'maybe'."
Madonna - 'Papa Don't Preach'
*I'm really surprised no one guessed this song, though several pinned down that it was Madonna*

#8-"Don't be ashamed to cry. Let me see you through...'cause I've seen the Dark Side too."
The Pretenders - 'I'll Stand By You'

#9-"Don't try to hide it, Love, there's no disguise. I see the fire burning in your eyes."
Madonna - 'Into the Groove'

#10-"I tell you I'm fine, but sometimes I just pretend. Wish you were holding me...wish you were still holding me. I just never thought I would be replaced so soon. I wasn't prepared to hear those words from you."
Chicago - 'Look Away'
*Another great 80's love ballad...I' m such a sucker for these...so angsty*G*

#11-"When I feel alone, I reach for you and you bring me home. When I'm lost at sea, I hear your voice and it carries me."
Belinda Carlisle - 'Heaven is a Place on Earth'

#12-"All that I needed was you. In my life, you're so right. And all that I wanted was you. You made all my dreams come true."
New Kids on the Block - 'The Right Stuff'
*giggles* No one got this, and frankly, I'm embarrassed to have to admit I have this on my playlist *G*

#13-"Now at last I hold you, now all is said and done. The search has come full circle...our destinies are one. So if you ever loved me, show me that you give a damn. We'll know for certain the man I really am."
Survivor - 'The Search is Over'
*Congrats to tarotgal for getting this one. It's almost never played on the radio anymore, even on 80's nights, and yet I still find it powerfully moving. I'm glad I'm not the only one.*

#14-"Every now and then I fall apart. And I need you now tonight. And I need you more than ever. And if you only hold me tight, we'll be holding on forever."
Bonnie Tyler - 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'

#15-"I'm gonna go out. I'm gonna let myself get absolutely soaking wet!"
Queer As Folk Dance Remix - 'It's Raining Men'
*I have two versions of this song on mp3, the Spice Girls version, and the QAF remix, which is highly entertaining and makes me think lovely slashy thoughts!*

#16-"Cold wind, tide moves in. Shivers in the salty air. Day breaks, my heart aches. I will wait for you right here."
Belinda Carlisle - 'Circle in the Sand'
*I always liked this one more than 'Heaven is a Place on Earth'...it's more melancholy and sophisticated, IMHO.*

#17-"I just want you for my own, more than you will ever know."
Mariah Carey - 'All I want for Christmas is You'
*Yes, proving that the list is really random, here's my obligatory Christmas mp3. This is my only Mariah Carey song I have downloaded.*

#18-"I believe it's meant to be. I watch you when you are sleeping. You belong with me. Do you feel the same?"
The Bangles - 'Eternal Flame'

#19-"Maybe it's a sign of weakness when I don't know what to say. Maybe I just wouldn't know what to do with my strength anyway. Have we become a habit? Do we distort the facts? Now there's no looking forward...now there's no turning back."
Pat Benetar - 'We Belong'

#20-"You can smile every smile for the man who held your hand 'neath the pale moonlight."
The Drifters - 'Save the Last Dance For Me' *sigh* The sweetest moment on QAF, hands down.

BONUS TRACKS
#21- "In a wood full of princes, freedom is a kiss. But the prince hides his face from dreams in the mist."
Heart - 'These Dreams' *My favorite 80's song, period.*

#22-"Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need." AND "Somewhere after midnight in my wildest fantasy, somewhere just beyond my reach, there's someone reaching back at me. Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat, it's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet." AND "Through the wind and the chill and the rain and the storm and the flood, I can feel his approach like a fire in the blood."
Bonnie Tyler - 'Holding Out for a Hero'

Wow... I feel really silly for not knowing some of those! But many (like Papa Don't Preach, The Right Stuff, Holding out for a Hero and Circle in the Sand) I only really know by the chorus. So maybe I don't feel so silly. I was still pretty familiar with practically every one of them, though.

And I cannot believe I missed #4! I know that song inside and out, or so I thought! And those last two lines you quoted are my favorite in the whole song. Grrr. Silly me!

LOL Love the obligatory Christmas mp3!

Lovely list though! Thanks for posting the answers!
*calls up her 80's mp3 playlist now*
