Gacked from tarotgal:
On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first twenty songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing), and write down your favorite line of the song. Try to avoid putting the song title in the line. Then, have your friends comment and see if they know the songs.

Ok, so I loaded a playlist of all my mp3s and took the first 20 songs randomly, discarding those songs which are either instrumental soundtracks (ala LOTR, SW, etc.) or are in Japanese (my numerous anime themes and image songs). Okay, here goes! I'll post the answers in a few days. That is, if anyone needs them. These are turning out way too easy, IMHO.

#1-"Oh I am what I am. I do what I want. But I can't hide."
#2-"I wonder what it's like to be a superhero? I wonder where I'd go if I could fly around downtown?"
#3-"Some boys take a beautiful girl and hide her away from the rest of the world. I want to be the one to walk in the sun!"
#4-"But I know the reason why you keep me silenced, though you don't fool me. The hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows. It's no stranger to you and me."
#5-"Mongolia, Laos, and Tibet, Indonesia, the Phillipine Islands, Taiwan. Sri Lanka, New Guinea, Sumatra, New Zealand, then Borneo and Vietnam."
#6-"I'm living in the forest of a dream. I know this night is not as it would seem. I must believe in something so I'll make myself believe that this night will never go."
#7-"The one you warned me all about...the one you said I could do without. We're in an awful mess and I don't mean 'maybe'."
#8-"Don't be ashamed to cry. Let me see you through...'cause I've seen the Dark Side too."
#9-"Don't try to hide it, Love, there's no disguise. I see the fire burning in your eyes."
#10-"I tell you I'm fine, but sometimes I just pretend. Wish you were holding me...wish you were still holding me. I just never thought I would be replaced so soon. I wasn't prepared to hear those words from you."
#11-"When I feel alone, I reach for you and you bring me home. When I'm lost at sea, I hear your voice and it carries me." (Perfect lyrics for a Legolas/Gimli fic, IMHO *G*)
#12-"All that I needed was you. In my life, you're so right. And all that I wanted was you. You made all my dreams come true."
#13-"Now at last I hold you, now all is said and done. The search has come full circle...our destinies are one. So if you ever loved me, show me that you give a damn. We'll know for certain the man I really am."
#14-"Every now and then I fall apart. And I need you now tonight. And I need you more than ever. And if you only hold me tight, we'll be holding on forever."
#15-"I'm gonna go out. I'm gonna let myself get absolutely soaking wet!"
#16-"Cold wind, tide moves in. Shivers in the salty air. Day breaks, my heart aches. I will wait for you right here."
#17-"I just want you for my own, more than you will ever know."
#18-"I believe it's meant to be. I watch you when you are sleeping. You belong with me. Do you feel the same?"
#19-"Maybe it's a sign of weakness when I don't know what to say. Maybe I just wouldn't know what to do with my strength anyway. Have we become a habit? Do we distort the facts? Now there's no looking forward...now there's no turning back."
#20-"You can smile every smile for the man who held your hand 'neath the pale moonlight."

BONUS TRACKS (Here not so much for you to guess, but because I was having too much fun, and because they remind me of Legolas *G*)
#21- "In a wood full of princes, freedom is a kiss. But the prince hides his face from dreams in the mist."
#22-"Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need." AND "Somewhere after midnight in my wildest fantasy, somewhere just beyond my reach, there's someone reaching back at me. Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat, it's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet." AND "Through the wind and the chill and the rain and the storm and the flood, I can feel his approach like a fire in the blood." (Sorry, I just love this whole song! *G*)

Well, happy reading and guessing! I had a blast typing these out!

Okay... here's my attempt..... *G* This is way too much fun LOL

#1- Here with Me by Dido. I just downloaded this about 3 months ago. It's one of my most recent songs... I'm trying to make a music vid out of it but get too wrapped up in singing along and I forget to count lines/verses/beats/etc. heehee

#2- MATCHBOX 20!! *fangirl squeal* I could listen to this CD of their's FOREVER. Those guys are just SO adorable. Title is The Real World... or just Real World... I don't actually remember which. But I've ALWAYS loved this song. It's quirky-cute

#3- Oh... man... I know this one... shoot... I'm getting an 80's vibe from it... I'll come back to it...

#5- I've NO idea but, wow... I want to know... interesting...

#8- LOVE THIS SONG! I'll Stand by You *sniffles*

#9- shoot again... this is Madonna... *tries to sing lyrics* Grr... I can't get past those lines... grrr... But I can totally hear Madonna singing this... maybe it just sounds like her...

OH! #3 is Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! Right?

#11- Awwww Belinda Carlisle with Heaven is a Place on Earth! I was just listening to this on mp3 the other day. And you're RIGHT! It is a lovely Legolas/Gimli song. :-)

#12- I know I've heard it... just can't place it. *shrugs*

#13- The Search is Over... you were with me all the while *sighs*

#9- I'm jumping again, sorry, is Get Into the Groove... is that the right title? Well, it's that song. Yes. I think so... I think...

#14- LOOOOOVE this song!!!! Then again, who doesn't? Total Eclipse of the Heart!!!!

#15- IT'S RAINING MEN!!!! WHOOHOO! *feels guilty she still hasn't finished the LotR fanvid to that song*

#16- Ohhh I'm getting another Madonna vibe... but I've no idea... I'm probably VERY wrong there. It could very easily be any other female 80's singer... gah... no idea

#18- You've hit TWO of my three my absolute favorite 80's songs without even trying! LOL! First Total Eclipse of the Heart and now Eternal Flame! I ADORE this song! *starts singing*

#19- YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We Belong!!!!! I AM making a Legolas/Gimli music video out of this song! LMAO I LOVE this song to death... I think it's very fitting for them (light-elves, thunder-dwarves, the whole "Close your eyes and try to sleep now" verse referring to war, etc.)

#20- ohhh ohhh SHOOT I'm going to KICK myself when I think of this... damn... this is one I really should know. I'm sure I was just listening to it... *tries singing* Oh- DUH Queer as Folk... was just watching the scene with that song the other day- Darlin... "Save the Last Dance for Me"

#21- These Dreams!!! Holy shite!!!!! This would be the OTHER favorite 80's song I mentioned. Probably one of my top 3 favorite songs of all time, actually. *dies happily from the shock* Plus that is, of course, my favorite line. But it's everyone's favorite line in that song, I think *G*

#22- I've NO idea... but it sounds gorgeous!

I must say you have some EXCELLENT taste in music! *HUGS all my favorite songs*

Okay... so I got... um *goes back and counts* Um... possibly 12... plus one of the bonus ones... unless I got some wrong... which is possible. I'm not so good at titles.
This was so much fun! Wheeeee! I'm looking forward to seeing what the other ones I didn't know where!

Well done! Then again, my list was more mainstream than yours, and all my more obscure songs are in Japanese and therefore non-typeable for this game.

#1- Here with Me by Dido.
*Absolutely correct. I fell in love with this song when my best friend showed me a few episodes of 'Roswell' a couple years ago.*

#2- Real World by MATCHBOX 20!!
*Again, correct. I'm not that big a fan, really, but I kinda like this song and downloaded it in an attempt to get some mp3's that *aren't* 80's music. *G*

#3- Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!
*BINGO! And yeah, you're gonna get an 80's vibe from almost every song on the list...hehe*

#5- "I've NO idea but, wow... I want to know... interesting..."
*I'll wait until a few more people have guessed before I give the answers to the ones you didn't get, but I'll give you a hint: This one's from a cartoon.*

#8- LOVE THIS SONG! I'll Stand by You *sniffles*
*I love this song too...and when I'm in daydreaming mode, I find it ridiculously easy to apply to almost any fandom. Of course, it has a different meaning in SW than any other, naturally. *G*

#9- *Yep, Madonna - Into the Groove...one of the most upbeat dancing songs ever, at least for me. Not many other songs get me wanting to hop around on a dance floor, but this is one.*

#11- *BINGO! Correct again. I love how songs that mention the sea can work for angsty Legolas in my mind. It's definitely a goal of mine to write a H/C Legolas/Gimli fic involving sea longing at some point...maybe a future challenge thing.*

#12- I know I've heard it... just can't place it. *shrugs*
*Yes, you've heard it. Anyone who grew up in the 80's heard it, though I'm sure many wish they could forget it. Trust me, you're gonna laugh when you see the answer!*

#13- The Search is Over... you were with me all the while *sighs*
*Correct! This one is one of my top 5 80's songs ever. I think it's very simple and beautiful. In fandom, this one definitely symbolizes Mulder/Scully to me*

#14- LOOOOOVE this song!!!! Then again, who doesn't? Total Eclipse of the Heart!!!!
*Correct, and I completely agree with you! This one was easy, but I wasn't willing to lose my favorite lines to make it harder.*

#15- IT'S RAINING MEN!!!! WHOOHOO! *feels guilty she still hasn't finished the LotR fanvid to that song*
*I get such a kick out of this song. Just as a bit of useless trivia, the version of this song that I have on mp3 is the extended dance mix used on a Queer As Folk episode.*

#16- *Not Madonna, but you're getting very warm. It's 80's, and actually by one of the other female artists I've already featured another song from. I actually prefer this one, of all her songs.*

#18- Correct! A fave of mine too!

#19-Pat Benetar-'We Belong'
*Oh, I can't wait to see your video! Yeah, I had a really hard time choosing the line from this song to use. I love them all, and my real favorite line would have given it away far too soon. (The line about the light and the thunder, and 'Whatever we deny or embrace, for worse or for better...we belong, we belong together.' *Sigh*)

#20- Correct again! "Save the Last Dance for Me" by the Drifters. Even into season 4 now, this is still my favorite QAF moment, hands down.

#21- These Dreams-by Heart
(I agree with you here...this song was my number 1 favorite of all-time for many, many years, and it's still easily in my top 5.)

#22- I've NO idea... but it sounds gorgeous!
*I'm gonna give you the answer here because I absolutely insist that you go download one of the at least 2 different LOTR music vids set to this song 'Holding out for a Hero' by Bonnie Tyler. This song was made to be played with a backdrop of hot men wielding swords, knives, axes, bows, etc. I have an Aragon-heavy version, and an all-male-characters version with the entire Fellowship plus Eomer and Faramir. I highly recommend the latter one. My only wish is that the author would make an updated version including ROTK footage. Regardless, it's just about my favorite LOTR music vid, and it can be found here: http://www.ravenseye.co.uk/edderkopp/

I must say you have some EXCELLENT taste in music! *HUGS all my favorite songs*
(Thanks! I'm glad you had as much fun with this as I did!)

I couldn't wait... I Yahoo'ed (because I don't use Google but I don't know what the verb equiv is for Yahoo) #5
LMAO! Wow... I'm thinking I should get that on mp3... I might actually learn something.

In elementary school there was a song that helped you learn all 50 states in order alphabetically(Fifty Nifty United States). Somehow I never got a music teacher who taught it, so I never learned it. So I only know up to Connecticut and then the tune stops. So I can get to Georgia really without losing steam and starting to have to think. It's a bummer. I always wished I'd learned it. I always remember stuff like that when it's in song. Like the song we learned for the Preamble of the constitution. But noooo... I'm forced to never know all 50 states without having to write them down. *pouts*

LOL Too cute with #5 though. There was a Jeopardy question about them a month or two back which I KNEW and my boyfriend thought I was nutters when I was trying to explain who they were and where they lived, etc. I don't think he's ever given me such a strange look. By the time I explained about the nurse with large breasts, however, he was totally on board. LOL

LOTR 'I'll Stand by You' music vid

Oooh! What wonderful timing! While browsing for the link for the 'Holding Out for a Hero' vid, I stumbled across a newly posted LOTR one to 'I'll Stand by You'. It's here: http://www.angelfire.com/scifi2/standbyyou/

Several times while watching this, I was nearly brought to tears by the obvious love and caring between these characters, in little movements as small as a glance, the clasping of hands, etc. Perfect song. Very well-designed vid.

Re: LOTR 'I'll Stand by You' music vid

I *must* have seen this at some point... I know I watched all of the nominees for the vid awards because I was nominated also... (luckily, I wasn't up against this vid, or I wouldn't have stood a chance... actually, I didn't win anyway, but that's no surprise)
But I am SURE I would have remembered the Hero vid if I had. That was BRILLIANT! Especially with the RotK footage!! It was fantastic... had me breathless in awe several times. Wow... what a wonderful vid! Thanks for pointing it out to me!!

I have Gollum's Song (the vid) saved on my comp, so I must have been here before... maybe it just wasn't online when I went? That doesn't make sense. Anyway, AWESOME video! And I DID know the song. I was singing along during the chorus at least.

I'll go download the I'll Stand By You One... but I'm not going to watch it tonight. Head is splitting, and crying isn't going to help... and I know I'll be sobbing. So I'll wait until tomorrow to watch... but thank you for the lovely video links!!! *bouncy*

Re: LOTR 'I'll Stand by You' music vid

Oops, didn't realize that link I gave you was the All-Aragorn version. I much prefer the multi-Fellowship-member version, and I'll have to keep looking for the link for that one...sorry!

Re: LOTR 'I'll Stand by You' music vid

Not a problem! I look forward to seeing it! :-)
Gods... but the all-Aragorn version was brilliant... the timing was spectacular.
And I've got that page bookmarked and the other 2 vids saved... can't imagine why I hadn't seen that one before *curious*
But thanks for that link... and the other (I love that site, but hadn't seen the new vid either)... and the link you haven't given me but will eventually *hugs*

Found it!!!

Let's see if I actually get more than two this time. *crosses fingers*

1 - Here With Me by Dido
14 - Total Eclipse of the Heart, by... er... I'm not sure. I only ever heard it on the radio and never pay attention who sings anything. >_<

Guess not. Oh well. And out of curiosity, what is number 22?

Both correct...thanks for replying!

Number 22 is 'Holding Out for a Hero' by Bonnie Tyler. It's a classic 80's song, and I think it pretty well summarizes why I've had no truly serious boyfriend yet, even though I'm 25 now. I've been spoiled by books and movies, and I really want that wonderful, gallant guy who will sweep me off my feet and make me feel like a lady and all that...and I just don't think I'm gonna find it. However, for now, I really am holding out for my 'hero'...I just think I'll find him when I least expect it. Anyway, that's why the song is on my playlist...sorry for the rambling explanation. *G*

Ah, fun times.

Thanks for responding! I hope you had fun guessing, even if you feel disappointed by only knowing two. Out of curiosity, how old are you? I get the feeling my list might be pretty obscure to someone not old enough to really remember 80's music...

I did have a good time - no real disappointment here. Not that I don't want to actually know what these songs are, but it's all in fun. :)

I am a bit of a youngin' at 18, so most of my eighties were spent sucking my thumb and clutching my Alf plush doll, rather than with my ear to a boom box. Hehe. Though I had glued myself to the tv by the time Animaniacs came on - should have gotten that one. :)

But it was a fun time guessing, even if my lucky number is two.

And, just as a side note, really, but I think about it every time I see one of your posts - I love your icons. So nice. Just thought I'd mention it now, with me wandering around on your lj. :)

ok, i feel like a TOTAL loser. the only one that i know is #5 "The Countries of the World" from the Animaniacs. i feel like i'm 6 years old and that i should be getting ready to go to bed at 8pm so that i'm fresh to go to 1st grade in the morning instead of a French final and turning in an 8 page essay on Renaissance literature. oh, and i have to admit that i had this song on one of my now living-impared pc's.

Hehe...I somehow knew you would be sure to get #5 correct. It also dosen't surprise me that you had it on mp3 on your computer. Secretly I was wishing that 'Fly me to the moon' would come up on the random mp3 rotation, and that song always makes me think of you.

I was trying not to read others' comments on here first, so don't mind me if I'm repeating any. :)

#1-"Oh I am what I am. I do what I want. But I can't hide."

'Here With Me,' by Dido

#2-"I wonder what it's like to be a superhero? I wonder where I'd go if I could fly around downtown?"

Gah, this is Matchbox 20, right? I can't place the name of the song, though I can hear all the lyrics in my head...

#3-"Some boys take a beautiful girl and hide her away from the rest of the world. I want to be the one to walk in the sun!"

'Girls Just Want To Have Fun,' by Cyndi Lauper

#5-"Mongolia, Laos, and Tibet, Indonesia, the Phillipine Islands, Taiwan. Sri Lanka, New Guinea, Sumatra, New Zealand, then Borneo and Vietnam."

Ooh! That's the countries of the world song from Animaniacs!

#8-"Don't be ashamed to cry. Let me see you through...'cause I've seen the Dark Side too."

'I'll Stand By You,' by... um... someone? I forget the artist. :)

#11-"When I feel alone, I reach for you and you bring me home. When I'm lost at sea, I hear your voice and it carries me."

'Heaven Is A Place on Earth,' by Belinda Carlisle (I had to reach for this one! I thought it was 'Like A Prayer' by Madonna at first!)

#14-"Every now and then I fall apart. And I need you now tonight. And I need you more than ever. And if you only hold me tight, we'll be holding on forever."

'Total Eclipse of the Heart,' by Bonnie Tyler (the only version I like)

#16-"Cold wind, tide moves in. Shivers in the salty air. Day breaks, my heart aches. I will wait for you right here."

'Circle In the Sand,' by... the Bangles?

#18-"I believe it's meant to be. I watch you when you are sleeping. You belong with me. Do you feel the same?"

'Eternal Flame,' by the Bangles

9 guessed, 9 correct (well mostly)...very well done! I'll address a couple of your questions before posting the answers tonight.

#2-"I wonder what it's like to be a superhero? I wonder where I'd go if I could fly around downtown?" Gah, this is Matchbox 20, right? I can't place the name of the song, though I can hear all the lyrics in my head...

*Number 2 is indeed Matchbox 20...'Real World', to be exact.*

16-"Cold wind, tide moves in. Shivers in the salty air. Day breaks, my heart aches. I will wait for you right here."
'Circle In the Sand,' by... the Bangles?

*Right title, wrong artist...'Circle in the Sand' is my favorite Belinda Carlisle song, despite it being lesser known than 'Heaven is a Place on Earth'. Good guess though...you're the only one to get the title so far!*

Thanks for playing my little game!
